Interview with mol
Time to get to know a bit more about mol. You've seen the work, let's hear a little something about the person.Give us a short introduction about you.
I started drawing seriously in the fall of 2002. It wasn't long before I start painting, digitally. Some of my digital work can be found here. A lot can be found in various places across the internet.
Where did you grow up? Tell us a little story about the young you.
I grew up on a farm in Keystone, Oklahoma. I mean, it wasn't a huge place with cows, etc. We had a small chicken farm. We had goats, ducks, geese, and even some peacocks. We mainly raised them for our own food. We didn't mass produce anything. At an early age I got interested in computers because I always saw my dad tapping on them. I got my first Commodore 64 at age 8 and proceeded to tear it apart. I learned BASIC and C and started to see the beauty in all things electronic. By the age 18 I was a budding engineer with a large and successful company.
What is that common every day thing that can really make your day?
A smile from my woman. A laugh from my children. Perfect lighting. A good cigarette. A great scotch.
Are you part of a collective or group? Would you recommend it to others and why?
The only two art communities I 'belong' to is GFX and conceptart.org. These are the only places that could put up with my obsession of painting portraits and 'fine-art' type stuff in the digital world.
Visual artists and music is like cookies and milk, does music do anything for you?
Absolutely. I always have the music blasting when I am painting. If music is not playing, then I am not able to be absorbed or 'lose myself' in my work. Lately, I have been watching movies while painting, too. I try to pick a movie that's close to the work I am working on...or, at the very least, one that will put me in the right mood. It's all about the mood.
Wich programs do you use and what do you use them for?
Adobe Photoshop CS2, OpenCanvas 4.5, Wacom Intuos 9 x 12 tablet, Picasa. All of these are pretty self explanatory. I use Picasa for cataloging and also for an extra sharpening needed, etc.
Any final words for the readers?
Thanks.
